June Product Roundup

Sharing is caring!

This has been an incredibly busy month with family birthdays, my ebook release, and trips. I actually had a lot of wonderful products that I tried, and some that weren’t exactly my favorite.

I did a post dedicated to a beauty and skincare line called Fountain of Truth that I fell in love with. It was so amazing, it needed its own post, and you can find it here.

Let’s Start with Hair

I decided to not focus on full-fledge curly girl approved products, because I don’t want to miss out on something my hair loves. So, I tried a few different products from some brands I already know and love as well as some new ones.

I tried a fitness inspired shampoo and a scalp treatment conditioner. I workout, clean, and chase toddlers, so I get sweaty. I also like to wash my hair at least 2-3 times a week, so I search for gentle formulas and things that will be kind to my sensitive scalp.

Green Tea Fitness Shampoo– I absolutely love this shampoo. It smells clean and light. It didn’t dry my hair out, and a little bit went a long way.

It’s definitely a shampoo I recommend if you workout daily and need to wash your hair often. It’s under $7 at Walmart and Target, and it’s a great shampoo for hot summer days.

Hydrating + Tea Tree Mint ConditionerI originally got this to try for my sensitive and itchy, dry scalp. My scalp is sensitive, and I am no stranger to hives. This stuff passed the bar.

My hair felt hydrated and soft right away. It smells so lovely, and I definitely recommend this. I will probably try the shampoo they offer and use them as a pair also. This conditioner was under $6 at Walmart and extremely worth it.

Nature Box

Nature Box is a brand I honestly never heard of until I received free samples in the mail. When I did my digging though, I was pleasantly surprised. They are a sustainably conscious and all about natural beauty.

Nature Box uses 100% cold pressed oils. They are vegan and leave a cruelty free imprint. They also have no silicones, sulfates, or parabens in their formulas.

Coconut Oil Shampoo & Conditioner– I was sent both the shampoo and conditioner to try. Coconut oil is known to revive thirsty, lack-luster hair, and it definitely delivered.

I was hesitant at first about trying a brand I had never heard of, but I’m so glad I did. My hair is very happy when I use these.

I looked these up, and they are available at Walmart for $7.99, which is great for an organic product. I love when I can by natural products without my wallet feeling the sting. I definitely recommend these.

Skin Care Time

So besides my new love of Fountain of Truth, I also tried two other skin creams/serums this month.

I’ve been waiting to try a few Olay products for awhile, so I’m glad I was able to give them a whirl. I will be honest and say there’s no comparison when it comes to Fountain of Truth, but Olay was pretty decent.

Olay Whips Regenerist– This lightweight moisturizer is intended to minimize wrinkles and fine lines all while moisturizing without a heavy, oily feeling. It did a good job on keeping my skin soft, but it didn’t do a whole lot for my newly budding lines.

I have fine lines and dark circles starting, and I’m always on the hunt for good preventative and restoring face creams. Olay gets a lot of hype, and I understand why for the most part. They are pretty good, but I’m not sure I’d spend my money on this when I could spend just a little more and get something that gave me instant results like others I’ve tried.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 Stars

Olay Deep Hydrating Eye Gel– This gel is made with Hyaluronic acid for tired eyes. It worked pretty nicely, but the effects didn’t last longer than a few hours.

It was very cooling and felt wonderful when I put it on. It did plump my skin and made my bags a lot less noticeable, so I was pretty happy with the results overall. I liked it more than the whips, because I noticed immediate results.

Makeup & Beauty Buys

I made a few beauty purchases this month that made me very happy, and one that made me not so happy. I love makeup, especially drugstore brands, because I’m a budget shopping momma.

Almay Lip Vibes Treat Yourself– I also have the color called Be Strong that I bought a few months ago, and I’ve found another that I love. The Lip Vibes collection does no wrong in my book. It’s high pigment, long lasting, and creamy.

I always go back to Almay, because with their hypoallergenic promise, my sensitive skin is happy. It’s also formulated with vitamins E & C and Shea Butter. This collection has a good variety with 24 shades, which consist of 2 toppers, 10 matte, and 12 crème.

Treat Yourself is a blue-based red lipstick with a matte finish, and it makes me feel so beautiful. I love red lipsticks, so I have quite the bundle in my drawer. This one quickly became a favorite, and you can’t beat a good lipstick for under $7.

Almay Thickening Mascara– This is also formerly known has One-Coat Thickening Mascara. I usually grab the all in one benefits kind, but I wanted to mix it up. It was less than $5 at Walmart, so I was pretty happy about that.

It has yet to flake or clump, and I’ve used it a handful of times. I never trust one use with mascara, because I’ve loved some at first then hated them the next few times. This one seems pretty consistent and great though. It does take a few coats to get it the thickness that I like, but that’s my only critique.

Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara– I usually love Maybelline products, but I didn’t care for this mascara. The description says it’s for buildable volume, but I found it to be messy, flakey, and clumpy. I tried a few different times, but it always came out the same. It’s not too bad for a single or even double layer, but there wasn’t much volume. I expected a little bit more, but the $10 price tag wasn’t awful.

Pink/Victoria’s Secret Beauty

Smoothing Sweet Mint Lip Scrub– When I was in highschool, all the girls would go to the Victoria’s Secret in our town mall and buy lipgloss. It’s been over 10 years, and VS has stepped up their beauty game a bit. When I saw this lip scrub, I had to try it, and I’m glad I did.

This was actually the first lip scrub I ever tried. I love lipsticks, and I know a good lip scrub helps with lipstick application. I was thrilled at not only the smell but how soft my lips were after using this. I can’t believe it took me this long to get a lip scrub. It’s $8, and I definitely recommend giving it a try.

There You Have It

I found some wonder hair and skin products this month, and I also snagged a couple great makeup additions. I used to get bummed out when I bought a product that I ended up not liking, but that’s just apart of the journey. I hope I was able to help you with my reviews. Have a lovely week/weekend.

  1. I’ll have to look into nature box, I’m so impressed with their prices because you’re right, usually anything organic is pricey!
Its nice that you were able to find a mascara that is consistent. I still havent found ‘the one’. They’re not consistent or they flake lol.

    1. I still like the all-in-one formula from Almay the best, but this one is pretty good. I love Nature Box, and I’m so happy I discovered it.
