When I was in college, the quality of food that I consumed felt like a laughable dream compared to today. I never considered, let alone cared, about food quality. Honestly, I was just trying to get through school, and I didn’t worry about my relationship with food or what I was eating.

Now, food quality is important to me. I try not to fret over labels like “good” or “bad” food, but I do aim to feed my family with quality ingredients that will make them smile. We tend to eat a lot of pastas, fish, and veggies. So, when I learned how to cook the right way, I discovered that I couldn’t keep melting butter to substitute for oil. That’s when I fell in love with extra virgin olive oil.

Thanks to Moms Meet and Olitalia, I was able to try Bellucci Olive Oil. This European Extra Virgin Olive Oil, also referred to as EVOO, makes my taste buds sing. If you’re going to add some flavor into your life, this is one way you can do it.

Flavor Your Life

There is this wonderful campaign called Flavor Your Life, and it’s goal is to educate American consumers on everything about authentic extra virgin olive oil made in Europe. This campaign includes recipes, traditions, and even tackling misconceptions about EVOO. It’s a culinary campaign that I definitely support, because knowing as much as we can about the foods of other cultures is important.

I also adore cooking foods from all over the world, so adding this EVOO to my cupboard is right up my alley. My family loves all types of food, so I really got lucky when it comes to cooking for them. Plus, my husband is a great cook too, so being in the kitchen makes for lovely date nights. This EVOO has elevated some of our favorite dishes, and I’m sure it’ll continue to do so.

Foodie Favorites

Personally, pasta is my favorite type of food. I love stuffed shells, ravioli, and tortellini. My husband is a big meat and fish eater, and he adores making salmon. This EVOO has made our tortellini and salmon dishes taste even better than before, and they were already pretty yummy.

When we make our tortellini, we keep things very simple. A little EVOO, garlic, salt, and pepper to taste is my favorite way to eat it. Sautéing this in a pan so there’s a slight crisp to the outside is probably my favorite way of enjoying it, and we make it a few times a month. Originally, we used to just sauté the tortellini in butter, but that was before my taste buds realized that EVOO is a necessity in the kitchen.

When my husband makes us Salmon, it’s usually a birthday or special date night, but it’s perfect every single time. He also likes to keep things simple, because you don’t want to have too many muddled flavors. Using EVOO, lemon pepper, and a bit of salt and pepper, the salmon flavor shines through with this delectable oomph added in.

Choose Your Oil Wisely

If you want to flavor your life with the best EVOO, make sure to choose your oil wisely. Authentic European extra virgin olive oil is the way to go, and it can really elevate your meals. You can find and purchase Olitalia Extra Virgin Olive Oil at Eataly locations, which sell high quality Italian foods. You can also look for Olitalia at grocery stores in the Northeast next Spring.

Olitalia believes all great cooking revolves around great oil. Olitalia is the #1 brand most used by chefs in Italy and is now available for home cooking in the US. Look for Olitalia at Eataly locations.

Family & Food

Having my relationship with food and my cooking abilities grow and evolve with my family is something that always brightens my day when I’m in the kitchen. I enjoy the comfort of a homemade family meal, because those moments are ones I’ll always cherish.

I’d love to hear if you have any favorite dishes that include EVOO. Share recipes and favorites in the comments, and let’s talk food.

  1. Thanks for the review. I find it very hard to know what fats/oils are healthy for cooking they say that some brands of EEVO are cut with other oils.

    1. I wish I had a recipe to share. We just get frozen tortellini and lightly coat a skillet with olive oil. We sauté the pasta and add in a few shakes of minced garlic, salt, and pepper to taste. We usually get three cheese tortellini too.

  2. It is amazing how much of a difference using good oil, and good oil infused with flavors can affect food and make or break it. Plus they make great gifts! Great post beauty!
